“Kayoon with a Yellow Cushion” selected for the 163rd annual exhibition of the Society of Women Artists

Sally is delighted that, for the third year running, her work has been selected for the annual exhibition of The Society of Women Artists. Her painting “Kayoon with a Yellow Cushion” will be on display at the Mall Galleries between June 25th-29th, 10am-5pm, at the Mall Galleries in London. Find out more about the SWA here.
Sally reveals how she tackles the challenge of a formal portrait commission in her latest article for The Artist Magazine

In her latest article for The Artist Magazine (January 2024 edition, published November 2023), Sally reveals her process for tacking a formal commission from an Institution. The article explores her recent experience of being commissioned by King’s College, Taunton, to paint former retiring Headmaster Richard Biggs, Rhodes Scholar, MA BSc for the school’s permanent collection. The Artist is the UK’s leading practical art magazine.
Self-Portrait selected for the Royal Institute of Oil Painters’ annual exhibition, 2023

Sally’s self-portrait, which was originally commissioned by The Artist Magazine, has been selected for the prestigious Royal Institute of Oil Painters’ annual exhibition at The Mall Galleries, London. The painting will be on display between Wednesday 29th November and Saturday 16th December 2023. More details about the ROI can be found here. The exhibition is also now online here.

Self-portrait shortlisted for 2023 Ruth Borchard Self-Portrait Prize

Sally’s self-portrait “Emergence”, has been shortlisted for the prestigious biennial Ruth Borchard Self-Portrait Prize this year, alongside works by some of the leading portrait artists working today. There were over 1800 entries worldwide and Sally’s portrait was one of only 48 works shortlisted. The online exhibition of long-listed and shortlisted works is now available to see here.
This year’s judges were Gabriele Finaldi (Director of the National Gallery), Melanie Gerlis (Financial Times Art Market Columnist), Andrea Rose (former Director of the British Council), Stephen Whittle (Principle Manager, The Atkinson Museum), Lucy Jones (2021 prize winner) and David Borchard (grandson of Ruth Borchard).
The self-portrait was painted in 2019, and was also selected for the Sky Portrait Artist of the Year competition in 2020, in which Sally reached the final.

Sally wins the Society of Women Artist’s Cass Art Prize, awarded by HRH Princess Michael of Kent

Sally was honoured to win the Cass Art Prize for her painting “Boy with Dressing Gown” at the annual exhibition of the Society of Women Artists at the Mall Galleries this week. The prestigious exhibition attracts around 3000 entries of which 480 works have been exhibited this year. Of those exhibited, 15 prize winners were chosen and were awarded their prizes by the Society’s patron Princess Michael of Kent in front of large audience at the exhibition’s private view. “Boy with Dressing Gown” to be exhibited at the Mall Galleries in June

“Boy with Dressing Gown” will be exhibited at the Mall Galleries this week from 6-10 June as part of the 162nd annual exhibition of the Society of Women Artists. The exhibition will be formally opened by HRH Princess Michael of Kent. More details can be found here.
