King’s College School portrait commission
October 2021
Sally has been commissioned by King’s College School, Taunton, to paint headmaster Richard Biggs MA BSc. The painting will hang within the school and will be unveiled in July 2022. Sittings for the painting took place in October. During her stay, Sally was delighted to give a talk to 6th form art students about her journey to becoming an artist and her creative process.

You can now see Sally’s self-portrait as part of an online exhibition of highly commended works selected for the Ruth Borchard Self-Portrait Prize 2021. Sally is featured in this month’s Good Housekeeping Magazine in their Be Inspired section. She talks about her journey back to art and her subsequent appearance as a finalist in Sky Arts’ Portrait Artist of the Year. The June 2021 edition of Good Housekeeping Magazine is on sale until the end of May.

Self-Portrait long-listed for the Ruth Borchard Self-Portrait Prize, 2021

Sally’s self-portrait, painted during the confining winter lockdown of 2021, has been long-listed for the prestigious Ruth Borchard Self-Portrait Prize. From over 2000 entries this portrait has been identified as an outstanding contribution to the self-portrait genre. The work will now be exhibited as part of an exclusive curated digital display; shared and promoted internationally via a dedicated viewing room and Artsy page. Judges for the prize are BBC’s Chief Arts Editor, Will Gompertz; Writer, presenter and curator, Kate Bryan; Internationally renowned gallerist Victoria Miro; Director & CEO of the Science Museum Group, Sir Ian Blatchford; High Court Judge, The Right Honourable Mrs Justice Cheema Grubb, and; Artist, Curator and 2019 prize winner, David Dawson.

Portrait of “Yeside” long-listed for the Jackson’s Painting Prize, 2021

Sally is delighted that her portrait of “Yeside” has reached the long-list for the prestigious Jackson’s Painting Prize, 2021. Her work was one of only 400 selected from an incredible 8674 entries in Jackson’s biggest competition ever. The painting was a commission, painted for the Final of Sky Portrait Artist of the Year 2020. You can see the entire long-list here: Longlist 2021

Sally paints Eddie Izzard in the Final of Sky Portrait Artist of the Year

Sally was excited and honoured to paint comedian, actor, writer and political activist, Eddie Izzard in the Final of Sky Portrait Artist of the Year. She was thrilled for winner Curtis Holder, following an exhilarating and intense final day of the competition. The programme also unveiled a commissioned portrait of Sally’s friend, role model, former teacher and artist, Yeside Linney.
